Capdepera Golf is blessed with a beautiful setting within a bowl of mountains, with distant views of the sea, and there is a very pleasing air of serenity and maturity about both the course and the Restaurante Roca Viva which occupies the top level of the club house building. At 5890 metres off the back tees, Capdepera Golf is not the longest course you will play and, even in the lushness of early spring, it does not play long either. However, you do need to be accurate off the tee, on the front nine for positioning for a birdie chance, and on the back nine because the waiting rough is very rough indeed in places. Clever use has been made of the old stone walls typical of Mallorca; local rules declare these as part of the course – you have been warned! The first part of Capdepera Golf is fairly open and gentle, and good course management should result in decent scores here, despite both the first and third holes being par 5! The back nine is totally different in character as it heads up into the mountains and offers many a challenge of accuracy and distance. The 15th, with its tees retreating higher and higher up the mountain and corresponding better and better views, is a wonderful par three and the 18th is a terrific finishing hole. The course was in excellent condition throughout and the staff can be proud of their efforts here. The greens ran true at a good speed, and were only marred by a few pitch marks left by inconsiderate golfers. After your game, the Restaurante Roca Viva and the magnificent terrace await. The views from this part of the complex are outstanding and offer the perfect spot to relax after your round, or to simply enjoy a drink or a meal. With regard to practical matters, Capdepera Golf offers an online booking service for tee times on their website, and has various membership and greenfee packages available. For those wishing to improve their game (that would be just about everyone) there is also a driving range and several golf tuition packages on offer. We loved Capdepera Golf. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the complex generally has the feel of being a happy place, run by people who take pride in what they do, and who enjoy it. This warm feeling is so strong that we think it might even be possible to enjoy a bad round here!
