The Foundation was established in 1981 as a living and dynamic cultural centre and its headquarters was opened in 1992. It endeavours to be a real cultural and artistic centre, to introduce it to a wider, international public, and in keeping with the spirit of its Founder, to be open to the most advanced concepts and ideas in contemporary art. A meeting point for writers, artists, musicians, etc to exchange ideas and work together. A place for reflection and creation. An effective platform for cultural diffusion and understanding the adventure of modernity. In short, a special, and incomparable place to discover the intimate world of Miró, and the revelation of his essential spirit and thought. Educational programmes , Miró workshops and scholarship grants are administered bt the Foundation and the museum graphics collection basically comprises the pieces from Miró’s workshops in Mallorca which were donated by the painter. In the main, it includes paintings, drawings and other graphic works but there is also an important collection of documents.
