It´s easily said, but it´s true - Mallorca is a shopper´s paradise! From the humblest market stall to the most exclusive designer shops, the range of options available seems boundless. The only possible downside is that many shops close in the traditional siesta hours between 14:00 and 17:00, although this does not apply to the larger stores and malls.
Mallorca is justly proud of its local industries and the opportunity to shop ¨at source¨should not be missed. The most prominent local industries are glass blowing, leather and footwear, pearl manufacturing, ceramics and pottery, basketware, lacemaking and embroidery. There´s also a wide range of food items, notably wines, olive oil, sobrassada sausage, pastries, including the renowned ensaimada, and the Mallorcan liqueur, hierbas.
